School Conduct & Regulations

As a student of Buddhist Girls’ College, you are privileged to be part of a proud tradition. During your limited time at this institution, it is your responsibility to lead a disciplined and meaningful student life. You are expected to uphold the dignity of Buddhist Girls’ College and carry its reputation to your community, your country, and beyond. Therefore, maintaining good discipline and developing a strong character is essential.

Attendance & Punctuality

  • Students must come to school daily in a clean and neat manner. The school record book must be brought daily. It serves as proof of identity, and in case of absence, parents/guardians must state the reason. It must be shown to the class teacher for signature.
  • Students entering through the main gate should pay homage at the Buddha shrine. Non-Buddhist students should walk respectfully past it.
  • Students must arrive before 7:20 a.m. on school days.
  • Late arrivals will be recorded by a prefect. Parents must sign these entries, and they must be certified by the section head/class teacher.
  • If late attendance exceeds 3 times per term, parents will be summoned.
  • G.C.E. (A/L) students must maintain at least 80% attendance, with valid reasons for absences.
  • Students must attend school daily until they sit for the A/L examination.
  • Senior students must leave through the designated gate in pairs and walk in an orderly manner up to the bus stand. Those traveling by bus must wait at the bus stand; those walking must cross at the pedestrian crossing in pairs.
  • Students must not leave school without proper authorization (approval from class teacher and principal/authorized officer, recorded in the school record).
  • For personal needs, students may leave only with a parent/guardian.
  • Even for extra classes or practices during holidays/weekends, students must wear the school uniform.
  • Leaving school without permission or skipping classes is a punishable offense.

Uniform & Appearance

  • The white blouse (65 × 35 polyester) must have a 4 × 4 inch pocket on the left side with blue piping. (The blue piping should be placed along the lower edge of the pocket.)
  • The sleeve length of the blouse should be approximately 7½ inches.
  • A 2-inch fold should be allowed.
  • The sleeve should be positioned about 2 inches above the elbow.
  • The blouse opening should be at the front.
  • A tie must be worn.

Behavior & Discipline

  • After 6:30 a.m., students must participate in cleaning classrooms and surroundings.
  • Students must not enter other classrooms or loiter without permission. Assigned academic and student duties must be completed; teachers have authority to take action if not followed.
  • Students must not leave classrooms during lessons without permission. Authorized students must carry a pass.
  • When no teacher is present, students must not make noise, loiter in corridors, or leave classrooms.
  • When moving for academic purposes, students must walk silently in single file.
  • Students must follow bell instructions.
  • During religious activities, school song, or national anthem, all activities must stop and students must participate respectfully.
  • Silence must be observed when required.
  • Students must not use alcohol, drugs, or harmful substances, nor support or associate with such activities, whether in or out of uniform.
  • While in uniform outside school, students must not loiter, gather unnecessarily, behave disorderly, or engage in actions that harm the school’s reputation.
  • Prior permission must be obtained for external representations.
  • Students leaving home in school uniform must go directly to school and not remain elsewhere during school hours.
  • Students must show love and respect to teachers both inside and outside school.

Property & Safety

  • Protecting public property, both within and outside school, is your responsibility.
  • Theft, misuse, damage, or unauthorized removal of school property is strictly prohibited.
  • Theft of others’ belongings or assisting in such acts is prohibited.
  • Students must comply with decisions made by the school administration regarding property management.
  • Plastic items such as straws, wrappers, and polythene must not be disposed of within school premises. Polythene should not be used to bring food.
  • Any intentional damage caused must be repaired by the student, compensation paid, and disciplinary action may be taken.

Academic Integrity

  • All assignments and homework must be completed on time.
  • Students must bring required textbooks and materials to class.
  • Copying others' work is considered academic dishonesty.
  • Students must participate actively in class activities.
  • Extra-curricular activities should not interfere with academic responsibilities.

Disciplinary Actions

Violation of school rules may result in the following consequences:

  • Verbal warning
  • Written warning to parents
  • Detention
  • Suspension
  • Community service
  • Expulsion (in severe cases)
